About the Course

The Sexual Assault Medical Forensic Exam Virtual Practicum teaches each step of a person-centered medical forensic exam using interactive lessons taught in a virtual facility. Through patient simulations and hands-on activities led by top experts, learners gain practical skills to improve their patient care.

Key components of the SAMFE virtual practicum include techniques for documenting a survivor’s medical history, conducting a head-to-toe physical exam, collecting evidence, analyzing crime lab findings and delivering courtroom testimony. The practicum also teaches skills to care for patients from different populations, including transgender patients, older adults, adolescents, males, and incarcerated patients.

Earn 13.5 or 19.5 Continuing Education contact hours by completing certain portions of the virtual practicum. If you have any questions about receiving nursing contact hours for the SAMFE Virtual Practicum, please contact End Violence Against Women International at info@evawintl.org or call 509-684-9800.

The virtual practicum is a program of End Violence Against Women International developed in partnership with the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women; World 2 Systems; Zapdot, Inc.; the Academy of Forensic Nursing; the International Association of Forensic Nurses; and more than 30 multidisciplinary experts.
