Shawntay Harris, DNP, MBA, MHA, RN, CEN, CPEN, CFRN, NEA-BC, NE-BC, TCRN, FAEN, is in her first year as a member of the Emergency Nurses Association Board of Directors.
Harris is a highly accomplished nurse entrepreneur recognized for her significant impact on education and nursing practice. As the president and CEO of Eminent Healthcare Resources Consultants, Incorporated, she has dedicated her 24-year career to emergency services and health care leadership. A military veteran, Harris has implemented innovative educational approaches, creating online learning opportunities for thousands of nurses, particularly those in underserved health care areas and the United States Armed Forces.
She is a pioneer in providing accessible education and building platforms that have become essential for global health care communities. Harris developed a thriving social media platform to support historically excluded nurses, ensuring they can access professional advancement opportunities. This platform provides advocacy and mentoring in the nursing profession. Renowned for her visionary approach, Harris encourages nurses to pursue leadership roles to address the ongoing nursing shortage. She co-authored the “Sustaining Just Culture” Resolution in 2022, further showcasing her commitment to emergency nurses' safety, well-being and professional growth.
Harris graduated from Post University's doctoral program focusing on executive leadership and has 30 years of experience working for nonprofit organizations. She is a contributing author to the Emergency Nursing Core Curriculum, 8th Edition, and a reviewer for the Trauma Nursing Core Course, 9th Edition. She has authored a leadership book series and is an Academy of Emergency Nursing Fellow.
Harris is not just a leader, but a passionate advocate for the future of nursing who seeks to ensure excellence in care and leadership is passed on to the next generation of nurse leaders. Her leadership extends beyond education. She previously served as the Texas ENA State Council president, a member of the Journal of Emergency Nursing Executive Editorial Board and on the ENA Foundation Board of Trustees.
