Nisreen Atta, MSN-ED, RN, is the 2024 Emerging Professional Liaison to the Emergency Nurses Association Board of Directors, serving in a non-voting role.
Atta was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Science in nursing and a minor in psychology. Throughout her undergraduate studies, Atta worked as an emergency department technician, where her love and drive for emergency nursing flourished. Atta currently works as an emergency department nursing supervisor at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center, the same unit that sparked her passion for emergency nursing as a technician.
In December 2022, Atta graduated with her Master of Science in nursing education from Duke University. She has worked as an adjunct clinical faculty member, striving to inspire and motivate the new generation of nurses through education and mentorship, while also understanding the unique experiences of future nurses.
Having a desire to learn more about emergency nursing as a nursing student, Atta joined ENA as a student nurse in 2018 and then as a registered nurse in 2020 after graduating with her BSN. She became involved with Wisconsin ENA as the Milwaukee regional director in 2021 and as a General Assembly delegate for Wisconsin in 2022. Atta also served as ENA’s 2023 Emerging Professional Liaison.
Atta joins the ENA Board of Directors with unique perspectives based on her experiences in the nursing profession and her involvement with multiple underrepresented communities and organizations. She is honored and excited to represent emerging professionals on the ENA Board. Atta is passionate about increasing the diversity of the emergency nursing workforce and is committed to furthering initiatives that will retain and inspire premier emergency nurses.
