Jennifer Schmitz, MSN, EMT-P, CEN, CPEN, CNML, FNP-C, NE-BC, is the immediate past president of the Emergency Nurses Association. She is in her sixth year on the board.

Schmitz has spent her entire career in emergency nursing, primarily in a community hospital setting. She has held a variety of positions including staff nurse, charge nurse, nurse educator, nurse manager and chief nursing officer at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford, Maine. She is currently the vice president for client engagement with Engage, Powered by ENA.

Schmitz joined ENA in 2002 as a new graduate nurse. Since 2012, she has been actively involved at the local, state and national levels. She served a two-year term as Maine ENA State Council president and was a member of the council’s board of directors. She participated on the ENA Operations Committee in 2016-17 and is a TNCC and ENPC instructor.

Schmitz has an associate degree in paramedicine from Southern Maine Community College. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Southern Maine in Portland, Maine, and later completed her master’s in family nurse practitioner at Husson University in Bangor, Maine. She is a certified emergency nurse, certified pediatric emergency nurse, a certified nurse manager and leader and a board-certified nurse executive.
