ENA’s 2023 Lantern Award Applications Now Available
Award recognizes exceptional and innovative emergency departments.
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (Dec. 1, 2022) – Emergency departments looking to be recognized for their excellence can now apply for the 2023 ENA Lantern Award.
There are 87 hospitals that currently hold the Lantern Award designation two international EDs in Abu Dhabi and Australia. In 2022, 29 hospitals were awarded the designation, including the first VA hospital. The award, which was established in 2000, gives hospitals the Lantern Award designation for three years.
“Each day emergency departments strive to provide the best care possible to their patients. The Lantern Award gives us an opportunity to recognize their hard work and encourage them to find new and creative ways to improve patient care, employee satisfaction and to create healthy work environments” said ENA President Jennifer Schmitz, MSN, EMT-P, CEN, CPEN, CNML, FNP-C, NE-BC.
The ENA Lantern Award was created to recognize emergency departments that demonstrate exceptional and innovative performance in leadership, practice, education, advocacy and research. When applying, emergency departments share stories that highlight their commitment to quality patient care and the initiatives put in place to help ensure the well-being of nursing staff. Applications are first de-identified, then reviewed and scored by three ENA Lantern Award Committee members.
Applications for the current cycle are open through Feb. 22. More information and how to apply can be found on the ENA website.
