INJURY PREVENTION INSTITUTE
SAFER Medication Use Program Now Available
The ENA Injury Prevention Institute/EN CARE’s recently released SAFER Medication Use program educates health care professionals on in-hospital and community-based approaches to reducing adverse drug events among older adults. The CD-ROM contains:
Health Care Professional and Community-Based Modules
Two PowerPoint™ Presentations
Four brochures (English and Spanish versions)
The health care professional module focuses on practice, and the community-based module focuses on safe medication use among community-dwelling adults.
The goal of the SAFER Medication Use program is to help reduce the incidence of adverse drug events (ADEs) by: 1) Educating nurses and other health care professionals about the causes and risk factors that contribute to ADEs, specifically among older adults; and 2) Educating ED patients and community members, especially older adults, on safe medication practices.
