HOT TOPICS FROM INJURY PREVENTION
FALL 2007
Become a SBIRT Champion Today!
The ENA SBIRT Educational Toolkit will include multiple components (role plays, video, PowerPoint™ presentation, algorithm, example of discharge instruction, and fact sheet) to educate nurses about: What is SBIRT? Why should it be done? How and when should it be done? The purpose of the Toolkit is to ease the implementation of SBIRT in the ED setting. The SBIRT Educational Toolkit will officially be released in spring 2008. The ENA Injury Prevention Institute is recruiting SBIRT Champions, ED Managers/Directors (Administrators), staff nurses, and ED physicians, etc. to promote the implementation of the SBIRT toolkit in the emergency department. A short promotional presentation is available on the ENA Web site at www.ena.org/ipinstitute/SBIRT/Benefits.asp. The SBIRT Champion profile form is also available on the same Web page. Tell everyone to watch the clip and, even better, to enroll as a SBIRT Champion!
