ENA TO IMPLEMENT NEW DATABASE 1/31/08

We are pleased to announce that ENA will be implementing a new database effective Thursday January 31, 2008. There are a few ways that this implementation will have an impact on you as Course Directors and Instructors:

SYSTEM AVAILABILITY The conversion of data from our existing system to our new database will require that both systems be unavailable for processing effective Friday, January 25th through Wednesday, January 30th. MANUAL ORDERS This means that all orders for manuals that must ship prior to February 1st need to be received at ENA National, with full payment, by Tuesday, January 22nd in order to ship by January 24th. The next scheduled ship date for course manuals will be Friday February 1st. APPLICATIONS FOR COURSES SCHEDULED FOR LAST HALF OF 2008 Due to the heavy workload we are currently experiencing, along with the ongoing training and testing required in relation to the new system, you may experience some delays in the processing of course applications you are currently submitting that are scheduled to be held the mid to later months of 2008. We are prioritizing our workload in order to accommodate the heavy influx of post course materials, new 2008 course applications, and TNCC update course materials. Please be patient with us, but feel free to check in with us if you have any concerns. NEW INSTRUCTOR NUMBERS The implementation of the new system will bring with it a new assignment of instructor numbers. All current instructors that are already ENA members will have their instructor number changed to equal their membership number. For TNCC instructors, the member number will be preceded by a T, and for ENPC instructors, the member number will be preceded by a P, to reflect the instructor number. For those instructors that are not ENA members, their instructor number will be equal to their system ‘master number’, with the appropriate course prefix. This ‘master number’ will also become their membership number should they decide to join ENA in the future. All current instructors will be sent new instructor cards during February / March timeframe. SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS The current data that will be converted to the new system will bring only the last 4 digits of an individual’s social security number. We do plan to revise the scantron form after the first quarter of 2008, to allow for only the last 4 digits, but please advise your students that they should record just those last 4 digits. The new system will only capture the last 4 digits of the attendee’s social security number even if they provide us with the complete number.

2008 STATE TRAUMA / PEDIATRIC CHAIR CONFERENCE CALLS

The participation in our 2007 quarterly State Chairperson conference calls was very active and positive. We are pleased to announce the following schedule for our 2008 conference calls:

ENPC REVERIFICATION COURSE

The CECH hours for the new one day ENPC Reverification course have been added to Appendix H of the TNCC/ENPC Administrative Procedures on the ENA Web site. All current ENPC Course Directors will be sent new ENPC CD-ROMS that include the slides and paperwork for the Provider, Reverification, and Instructor courses, towards the end of January.
