CEN-RO BY IBT
CEN Renewal Option by Internet Based Testing

General Information

CEN-RO by IBT is a renewal option for maintaining certification. It was designed to measure competency AND provide an educational opportunity for all current, renewing CENs.

Resources

  • Because of the focus on learning, this renewal method was created with the intent that resources would be necessary to answer the questions. We encourage you to use resources.
  • A reference list is located online at http://www.ena.org/bcen/cen/CENRO-IBT-References.pdf.
  • Other references may be used to complete the exam.

Content

  • The internet based exam consists of 150 multiple-choice questions.
  • The internet based exam follows the outline of the CEN exam.
  • The questions were written with the intent that resources would need to be utilized to answer the majority of the questions (thereby providing a learning experience).
  • The questions were written specifically for this tool and were NOT taken from the item bank for the CEN exam.

Successful Completion

  • The passing score was established by completing a cut score analysis, a standard practice used in developing exams.
  • The current passing score is approximately 77%.

Continuing Education Credits (CEs)

  • If the internet based exam is successfully completed, continuing education
  • will be rewarded.
  • CEN-RO by IBT has been approved, through ENA, for 30 CECH.
