To be inducted into the academy, an emergency nurse must have demonstrated:

  • Enduring and substantial contributions to the advancement of the emergency nursing profession in one or more of the following areas: education, practice, research, leadership, and public policy;
  • Potential for sustained contributions to the advancement of emergency nursing and the Academy of Emergency Nursing;
  • Impact in advancing the emergency nursing profession in one or more of the following areas: education, practice, research, leadership, and public policy; and
  • Active involvement in the Emergency Nurses Association.

The Academy of Emergency Nursing was constituted in 2004 by the ENA Board of Directors to honor emergency nurses for their contributions to the emergency nursing profession. The 2005 Fellows were recognized for their commitment to the emergency nursing profession.
